Four indicators is already a crowd on a laptop screen
How we probation indicators during interpretation nights so the chart can breathe again.
A twelve-inch laptop can host an entire carnival of overlays. In our Bangkok study room we treat that carnival as a symptom: every extra line dilutes the reading sequence.
The probation test
Any indicator that cannot change a decision in a review of twenty past trades goes on probation. Probation means it stays off the live chart for ten sessions unless a written exception applies.
Students often discover that stacked moving averages were agreeing with each other so often that they functioned as one loud opinion, not three independent reads.
What stays
We are not anti-indicator. We are anti-redundancy. A short average for location, one oscillator for stretch, and a volume marker for participation is a common surviving set after Studio nights — but only if each line has a job description.
Invite friction on purpose
If your remaining indicators never disagree, you have decoration, not a board. Disagreement is where interpretation drills earn their keep.
